Letter from the President
Good organizations that do good work for their community are made up of good people with good intentions.
In the years since I joined the Evansville Parks Foundation and especially during the two-plus years I’ve been privileged to be its president, I’ve witnessed several instances of volunteerism at its best. Busy people who have little free time to spare have picked up a shovel or rake, have driven a loader or used a screwdriver in efforts to improve Evansville’s outdoor public areas.
Evening on the River is our signature event each year. It has grown steadily and we’ve been able to improve on it each year with more entertainment and dining options. Our partnership with Keep Evansville Beautiful the past couple of years has helped with this growth and made this event greener than ever.
The bottom line of this, though, is adding something back to our community. Click here to see a list of projects. Through the near 30 years the Foundation has been in existence, our parks and community have been improved and without tapping the taxpayer. Our goal is to enhance the legacy of quality life in the Evansville community.
Please enjoy Evening on the River with us on June 4, 2010 and have a good time.
Jim Michels
