History of EPF

Evansville Parks Foundation has a rich history of assisting the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County Governments with the improvement of our municipal parks, golf courses, pools, open spaces and recreational facilities.

Founded by a group of civic-minded individuals, Evansville Parks Foundation’s first board of directors began meeting in 1981. The group quickly established a mission of collaborating with Evansville’s Parks and Recreation Department to take on projects aimed at improving quality of life. As its first president, George Ryan led the group in seeking funding through capital drives, events and business partnerships. As stewards of the Evansville Parks Foundation’s finances, the Board of Directors continues its commitment to administering funds to meet needs of the community.

Strong parks and recreational facilities promote positive societal changes and economic development. The Evansville Parks Foundation continues to stand on the forefront of the effort to provide quality parks and recreation facilities that can be enjoyed for many generations to come.
